MULTIVAC UK now offers even more benefits to the packaging and food industries

Swindon, 17 February 2016 – After an eight months conversion process MULTIVAC UK has moved back into its newly refurbished premises following an investment of over £2 million into the modernisation programme. With a total area of around 2,700 square metres the business can offer even more benefits to the UK packaging industry, consolidating its position as market leader. The newly reopened building is due to be officially inaugurated in March as part of a major customer event. MULTIVAC UK Ltd. was founded in Swindon in 1985 and today has 120 employees. The original building had gone through a number of transformations and additions since it was purpose built for the company.

Additional training facilities

An important part of the business for MULTIVAC UK is the training service provided to both customers and MULTIVAC technicians. For this reason MULTIVAC has significantly invested into improving the existing training area, expanded to 2,000 square metres. This includes a dedicated practical training area and a brand new classroom, with the latest audio-video technology. These new best in class facilities for customer training, enable significant expansion into this increasingly critical area in the future.

Product Development

In addition to the new training facilities, MULTIVAC is proud to announce the opening of its new temperature-controlled Product Development Centre. This part of the renovation has enabled the business to bring something unique to the UK packaging market, especially the food sector. The new facility was designed inhouse alongside Demeva, one of the UK’s leading chilled food factory specialists, who carried out the installation. The temperature controlled 40 square metres area features a separate changing room and full hygiene facilities to enable advanced processing and packaging trials. This will provide the single biggest change and industry impact that the refurbishment will introduce. "With these facilities, we can now offer our customers additional options for carrying out packaging tests," explains John Lakin, Managing Director of MULTIVAC UK Ltd. “The installation of the demo room will completely change the type of trials we can now carry out. MULTIVAC can now provide an area suitable for shelf life trials and edible sample manufacture, cutting new product development times drastically for processors and retailers alike.”

The first phase of the refurbishment not only included improvements to the training facilities and the Product Development Centre, it also created the new showroom area. This dramatically increased 850 square metres area has plenty of room to demonstrate MULTIVAC’s extensive and expanding range of packaging, inspection, labelling, processing and automation equipment, offering customers a resource unrivalled in the UK. Visitors can view equipment and discuss initial concepts through to fully realised projects, reaping the benefit of working with a partner who can offer a range of solutions, from a single machine to fully project-managed and CE-marked integrated production lines.

New Offices

Phase 2 of the programme has seen a significant change to the reception, offices and canteen area of the building, to accomodate the growing number of employees, providing a bright and friendly welcome to visitors.

Overall, these changes will have a significant impact on MULTIVAC UK and will enable the business to invite customers across the country to visit the new facilities. Once they can view the machinery on offer, seeing first hand how MULTIVAC can bring competitive advantage to their business.
